Kara Esler
Therapist
MSW, LGSW
Hi there, I'm Kara, and I'm glad you found your way here.
I believe healing begins when we slow down, listen to ourselves, and reconnect with what grounds us. I am dedicated to creating a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered.
I have a deep passion for perinatal mental health and enjoy supporting birthing people as they navigate pregnancy, postpartum, and the emotional transition to parenthood. I'm certified in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders through Postpartum Support International and strive to normalize the experiences of pregnancy and postpartum that many people have, but few talk about openly.
I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and survivors of violence against women. I also have experience working with children and adolescents from elementary through high school, and I look forward to continuing this work in a clinical setting.
My approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and collaboration. I draw from evidence-based and holistic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I incorporate mindfulness and the healing presence of nature to support clients in developing greater self-awareness and inner strength. Outside of the therapy space, I feel most grounded when I'm near Lake Superior, spending time with my family, painting, or tending to my houseplants.
Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or ready for change, I'm here to support you. You don't have to navigate your journey alone.
